Netchi-Dow festival

Culture reflects identity of a community

BALUK-PONG,  Jan 13:  Netchi-Dow festival is basically celebrated every year in the month of January after harvesting season is over for peace and prosperity of human beings on earth in general.

This festival is celebrated to impress upon the God i.e. the Universe; the supreme God  and to avoid the catastrophic damages, sorrows in people’s lives.

The local priest performs religious rituals for three long days including prayers and sacrifice of  Mithun. etc.   It is believed that the celestial bodies like the Sun and the Moon and the terrestrial elements like the mountains, rivers or the vegetation in this Universe have their own purpose and duties. When dissatisfied, they bring catastrophic damages and indefinite sorrows in people’s lives.
